In a lot of countries autumn and winter is vaccination time for many older people. They are routinely offered influenza and pneumonia vaccinations.

Each year we add the current year's flu vaccine to the VA10 vial. If you've bought the full kit previously, you can simply by the update vial every year. If you're in doubt about whether your kit is u-to-date, just email us.

Several practitioners have asked me for the current pneumonia vaccination, which is now being offered routinely in many countries along with the influenza vaccination to people considered at high-risk of contracting the illness. Unlike the influenza virus the bacteria that lead to pneumonia do not mutate, so that the existing pneumonia vial (VA16) is the correct one to use. The vaccination is designed to offer protection from 23 of the pneumonia bacteria. The vaccination is generally only given once. Pneumonia can also be caused by a virus, but symptoms are less severe than bacterial pneumonia. We have also added VA28 which is the version used for babies and small children.
