Information On Nutritional Supplements
Clients/ patients expect us to be a mine of information on a variety of topics. Here's a book on nutrition supplements that I really recommend. The Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements by Michael T Murray is an excellent book. The supplements are divided up into categories: vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, accessory nutrients (such as glucosamine and probiotics), and glandular products. Within each category there are individual listings. For example, the section on vitamin E covers food sources, deficiency signs, recommended dietary allowances (US), beneficial effects, available forms, principal uses, dosage range, safety issues and interactions. As you can see, it's very comprehensive. But that's not all. Theres also a quick reference guide for specific health conditions. Topics covered range from acne to varicose veins, and include angina, anxiety, asthma, cancer, candidiasis, chronic fatigue syndrome, constipation, depression, eczema, fibroids, food allergy, hepatitis, hypoglycaemia, insomnia, multiple sclerosis, menopause, osteoporosis, prostatitis, psoriasis and ulcers almost 70 conditions in total.
