Beginning To Run
This excellent book No Need For Speed is subtitled 'A beginner's guide to the joy of running'. If your clients (or you?) need help getting fit, this might well be the place to start. John Bingham, the author, says:
Topics covered include how far to run, how to buy running shoes, how to avoid injuries, settings goals that work, defining your own standards, etc. He even talks about left-brain, right-brain standoffs. From my own experience of starting to get aerobically fit for the first time in my late 40's, a fitness programme is not only about exercise, it's also a metaphor for what's right and wrong in your life. As you work through the challenges and joys of getting fit, you will gain insights that you can use in the rest of your life too. I know from deep experience that getting fit is one of the best things anyone can do in their lives whatever their age. This book could be the impetus you or your clients need to make this happen. There's more on beginning to run on our sister web sites Health & Goodness and Sport & Me.
