Pollens Etc. 2 Test Kit

The rather inelegantly named Pollens Etc. 2 is now available. An important kit for this time of the year. It contains more mixed pollen vials, so extending the range of pollens from grasses, trees and flowers that are covered. There is another mixed mould vial, as well as an individual vial of cladosporium herbatum, a mould that has been implicated in asthma, but may also be relevant for hay fever sufferers as it is particularly active at this time of the year.

This mould has previously only been available in a mixed mould vial in the first pollens kit. There are also individual vials of rapeseed, a major problem in the UK, and ragweed, a big problem in the USA. In addition there are vials for volcanic dust, quartz sand, fly ash and soot.

It has now been shown that small particles like these can travel literally thousands of miles in the atmosphere, so these vials may be relevant wherever you live. There has been a lot of concern about increasing levels of ozone, methane, air pollution and sulphuric acid, so vials for these are included.
