Free Web Site Meters
Who's Visiting Your Web Site? By Jane Thurnell-ReadFollowing on from the previousarticle about images for your web site, I recommend you get a web site meter too. I use one recommended to me by Roger Hocking who maintains the Health Kinesiology UK web site - it's free and very easy to install - you can get it from www.sitemeter.com. This simple little device that you add to each page of your web site will tell you how many visitors you have each day, how long they spend on your site, how many pages they view, what link they clicked to get to you, etc. There are various versions of it you can pick depending on whether you want there to be a visible counter with the number of visitors showing. At the simplest it looks like this:
You can make all the info collected by this little chappy available (by clicking on it) to anyone, or you can set your account for total privacy, so only you can access this information. There's lots of interesting information. For example you can look at a world map that shows where your visitors come from. (Recently I've had visitors to my web site www.lifeworkpotential.com from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Philippines, Romania, Slovenia, Thailand, UK, USA An excellent free tool for all of us with a web site. Here's a great web design and hosting package for therapists - fabulously easy to use and great value. |
