Thinking About The Present And The Future

Thinking About The Present And The Future
by Jane Thurnell-Read

In the early days of running my business I used to get very stressed about the need to think about the present and the future almost at the same time.

As a practitioner there's lots of day-to-day tasks requiring attention, and it's important to be 'present' with your clients rather than thinking about other things in your life, but it's equally important to be able to look at where your business is going and to make plans for the future. Possibly you can handle this well, but I found I was either focussed in the future for large chunks of time, or obsessed with the details of the present. I just couldn't smoothly change focus as and when necessary.

The problem got worse for me when I started teaching, because I needed to prepare for a workshop in a few days time, organise the room booking etc. for new workshops in 9 months time, and see the client who had just walked through the door.

I became more and more stressed, until finally I used the skills I had as a therapist to remove the stress from the problem. After that I found it much easier to juggle all the different time perspectives in my life.

My fundamental training is as a health kinesiologist so I used a procedure from that (EFB/CSEI - thinking about the present and the future) to solve the problem. If you do not know this procedure, there are other options. If you are a kinesiologist/TFH'er, you could set up a goal balance around this problem. If you use homeopathy or flower remedies, you may be able to find a suitable remedy. You could of course see a health kinesiologist and experience this amazing therapy. ( Here are the links to find an HK therapist in the UK and elsewhere.)

Although I've talked about this in relation to us as practitioners, some of our clients will also have these problems, as so many people feel they are juggling a lot of different demands in their lives.

Here's information on a wonderful web site package for practitioners which will allow you quickly and easily to have your own web site.
