Instilling Client Confidence In You by Jane Thurnell-Read

One often overlooked area of client management and business success is putting in place strategies to give confirmation to the client that they've made the right decision in coming to see you.

Getting a client through the door and then concentrating on your therapy will not always be enough - the client needs to have confidence that they're right to put their trust in you. Of course, the most powerful way to achieve this is by making a rapid and significant improvement in the client's symptoms, but this is not always possible.

So what are the other ways?

Having a book of testimonials from satisfied clients in your waiting area can be very impressive. Having books on your therapy in a prominent place, or giving one to a new client to read while they are waiting can pay dividends.

Donate books on your therapy to local libraries and tell new enquirers that if they want to read more about the therapy before they come for their appointment, there is a book available in the local library. They may not go the library, but just knowing this can increase their confidence. If they go to the library and find someone else has got the book out, this is also likely to create a favourable impression. (This is also a good way of getting new clients too.)

If clients have confidence that they have made the right decision, they are more likely to persist with treatment even if nothing appears to be happening. Clients who are seeing results will be more confident about recommending you too.
