The Maun Homeopathy Project
Homeopathy And HIV in Botswana, Africa by Jane Thurnell-ReadIt is easy to feel overwhelmed by the suffering that HIV is bringing to Africa, but here's something practical that you can do. The Maun Homeopathy Project is a registered charity (No:1109958) dedicated to establishing a permanent homeopathic service for people living with HIV and AIDS and/or traumatised by rape in Maun, Botswana (southern Africa). It was set up by a friend of mine, Hilary Fairclough, who is a registered homeopath. In May, June and July 2004 Hilary carried out a Pilot Project funded by The Bill Gates Fund in Botswana and by individual donations from the UK. Hilary told me:
Following on from the very successful pilot study the clinics are being restarted in October 2005. Hilary has a team of experienced and committed homeopaths who will volunteer their time to work for the Project in Maun. To do this she needs to raise enough money each year to cover the costs of the homeopaths accommodation, living expenses and transport, as well as the homeopathic remedies. The Maun Homeopathy Project needs your support now please give as much as you can, every little counts. I lived in Botswana for two years and, as many of you know I give 12% of my income each year to worthwhile organisations, so I am very happy to support this project - whenever you buy books or test kits from me you know a little bit of that money is going to this project. But I hope you will want to support the project yourself. If you want to find out more or to donate (by cheque, bankers order, credit card) click here to go to the charity's web site. I've put information about another project I'm supporting to help termites and trees on our sister web site www.healthandgoodness.com. Click here to see an update report for October 2005. |
